Garlic and ground nuts have also been listed by the government for the festival which lasts from September 13 - 27. Hari Raya Puasa - which traslates as 'Celebration Day of Fasting' is the Malay term for the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said potatoes imported from Indonesia and China, ground nuts and garlic imported from China were included in the list this year.

"Price control of items during the festive season is important to avoid price differences at the wholesale and retail levels," he said.

Among the other price controlled items are all types of butter, cheese, margarine, bottled drinks, confectionery items, raw meat, ducks, chicken, eggs, imported fruits, onion, dried chillies, spices, coconut, ghee, tamarind, rice flour, corn flour and rice.
