A farm-worker has been killed after falling into a potato harvester in Scotland.

Keith Wannan, 34, died last week after his limbs were caught in the machinery at Foodie Farm, near Cupar, Fife.

Farm owner John Orr told the Daily Record newspaper: "We are just trying to put our lives back together. I can't say any more - I am not in a fit state."

Keith's former teacher Peter McKinnon, farm resource manager at Elmwood College, also told the paper: "This tragedy will be felt hard across the area. It doesn't mean someone has been careless or negligent - it's just a terrible tragedy. He was a very sensible young man and very competent in his work.

"These machines are expensive pieces of kit at around £70,000. He was very familiar with them. But something can happen so quickly."
