Australian Potato Profits Plummet Due to Oversees Imports PDF Print E-mail
Written by admin
Potato producers in Australia have seen profits slump following an increase of processed spud imports from Europe, American and New Zealand.

Imports have risen since 2004 from $20 million to $109 million - a rise of 400 per cent.

Tim Heissen, of the South Eastern Potato Growers Association in South Australia, said the rise in the value of the Australian dollar, cheap shipping rates and lower production costs oversees, were out pricing Aussie farmers.
