Mississippi Ruling to Provide Sweet Spud Farmer Aid PDF Print E-mail

Mississippi Govenor Haley Barbour has approved a multi-million dollar loan guarantee for sweet potato farmers after floods devastated crops.

Barbour signed the bill last week which provides up to $17 million in loan guarantees and takes effect immediately.

The Mississippi Development Authority can extend the guarantees to famers who suffered disastrous crop yields in 2009.

Applicants must seek state aid by 1 August.
