Weather conditions kill off potato starch crop for Avebe PDF Print E-mail
Written by admin
This year's Western European weather conditions of a cold spring, hot and dry early summer and wet late summer, being unfavorable for starch crops to grow, is leading to lower yields for the potato starch manufacturer.

The general indications of the current harvest, which has started recently, shows that the European potato starch crop will be 15 to 20 per cent lower than average crops.

Global supply of wheat and corn are in a similar situation due to abnormal weather conditions. The market prices are high and very volatile.

Due to these circumstances starch prices are rapidly rising worldwide.
