McCain Launches Frozen Sweet Spud Chips in South Africa PDF Print E-mail
Multinational McCain has introduced a range of sweet potato frozen chips in South Africa.

The Alternative Sweet Potato range includes the McCain Alternatives 10mm Sweet Potato Straight Cut Chips, the McCain Alternatives Sweet Potato Deep Crinkle Cut Chips, and the McCain Alternatives Sweet Potato Chunks with Rosemary and Garlic.

The range is made from specially farmed sweet potatoes making them a bright orange colour unlike the white fleshed variety traditionally harvested in South Africa.

Over the past few seasons McCain developed optimum growing conditions and tackled how best to cure and store roots to maximise flavour.

A clear coating was also applied to the cut chips to ensure a crispy outer layer and to minimise oil absorption.
