China's oil production soars PDF Print E-mail

China produced 4.08 million metric tons (tonnes) of refined edible vegetable oil in December of last year, a jump of 18.5 per cent over a year earlier, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In 2010, the country's edible oil output totaled 39.16 million metric tons (tonnes), up 19.2 per cent year on year.

The leap of domestic edible oil production also helped to suppress imports. Last year, China imported 6.87 million tonnes of edible oil, a slump of 15.8 per cent over 2009.
