McCain Foods is launching Potato Fingers to meet a gap in the UK market for a potato product aimed at older children who may have grown out of child marketed products such as McCain Smiles.
McCain Potato Fingers are prepared with 100 per cent real potato, shredded and shaped into chunky finger shapes and lightly finished with sunflower oil to give a crunch.
Hoping to capitalise on this teenage to young adult age group, McCain is marketing the new product as a mature potato product in purple packaging with an image of the product on the front.
Alan Castle, Head of Customer Marketing at McCain Foods, said:"The launch of Potato Fingers ensures that there are McCain products that will appeal to all age groups.
"While established kids products, such as McCain Smiles, are much loved, we've found that as some children grow older they are keen to explore a wider variety of textures and tastes but aren't necessarily ready for products like Wedges.
"Potato Fingers provide mums with a wholesome product to satisfy that after school demand."
