Egypt Approves New Frozen Potato And Ready-Meals Plant At Sokhna

Egypt’s General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone has signed an agreement with Pitcairn Food Industries to establish a new potato, vegetable, and ready-meals processing factory in the Sokhna Industrial Zone.
The agreement was announced on 23 December 2025 and covers an investment of approximately USD 8 million. According to SCZONE, the facility will have an annual capacity of 18,000 tonnes of frozen potato and vegetable products and will also produce prepared meals targeting aviation, hospitality, healthcare, and industrial catering markets.
SCZONE stated that production is expected to begin in early 2027.
The project forms part of Egypt’s wider strategy to attract food processing investment within the economic zone and expand value-added agri-food exports.
