Lamb Weston Plans To Close Dutch Production Facility As Part Of Efficiency Drive

Lamb Weston has announced its intention to close its production facility in Broekhuizenvorst, the Netherlands, as part of a broader effort to optimize its manufacturing network and better align production capacity with customer demand.
The frozen potato products manufacturer said it has informed employees of the proposal and initiated the formal consultation process with the local Works Council, as required under Dutch labor regulations. If approved, the closure would affect approximately 110 employees at the site.
According to the company, the proposed closure is intended to improve operational efficiency across its European manufacturing footprint. Lamb Weston stated that production from the Broekhuizenvorst facility would be redistributed within its existing manufacturing network.
“We recognize the impact this proposal may have on our employees, their families and the local community,” said Mike Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lamb Weston. “We are committed to supporting our employees through this process while continuing to serve our customers with the high-quality products they expect from Lamb Weston.”
The company emphasized that the announcement marks the beginning of a consultation process and that no final decision has yet been made. Lamb Weston said it will continue to engage with employee representatives throughout the process.
The Broekhuizenvorst facility is one of several production sites operated by Lamb Weston in Europe. The company did not disclose a timeline for the completion of the consultation process or any further details regarding the future use of the site.
Lamb Weston, headquartered in the United States, is one of the world’s largest suppliers of frozen potato products to restaurants and retailers. The company operates manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and other international markets.
