MANTIS ULV Sprühgeräte will present its MAFEX Potato application system at PotatoEurope 2026, positioning the technology as a way for growers and storage operators to reduce liquid product use while maintaining uniform treatment.

The German manufacturer’s system uses ultra-low-volume technology to disperse liquid through a rotating atomiser disc. According to MANTIS, centrifugal force divides the liquid into uniform droplets, which are deposited on the crop as potatoes rotate and fall while passing beneath the atomiser. The company lists uniform wetting and reduced application volume among the system’s principal benefits.

MAFEX units can be installed on equipment including harvesters, box fillers and conveyor belts, with the atomisers typically positioned above a point where the crop drops. The systems can be used for applications including seed treatment products, fungicides, sprout-control products and water for dust suppression, subject to the relevant product approvals and operating requirements.

MANTIS also offers a roller table designed for use with the system. Its stainless-steel table, rollers and spray chamber collect excess liquid, while adjustable operating speed allows the equipment to be adapted to the required throughput. A sensor-based crop-flow monitoring option can be incorporated into existing installations and connected to the system’s automatic shutdown controls, helping prevent application when no crop is present.

The control unit provides automatic system priming, application-volume adjustment, atomiser monitoring and an alarm function. Optional flow-rate monitoring is also available.

MANTIS will exhibit at stand Z-D39 during PotatoEurope 2026, according to material supplied by the company. The event will take place on September 9–10 at Rittergut Gestorf in Springe, near Hanover, alongside SugarBeet Expo.
