PepsiCo Expands Regenerative Agriculture to 4.7 Million Acres

PepsiCo has reported further progress against its 2030 Positive Agriculture (pep+) commitments, announcing expanded adoption of regenerative farming practices, higher levels of sustainable sourcing, and continued investment in farmer livelihoods across its global agricultural supply chains.
According to the company, regenerative, restorative and protective agricultural practices now cover 4.7 million acres worldwide, moving it closer to its target of reaching 10 million acres by 2030. PepsiCo said progress during 2025 was supported by closer collaboration with farmers and agricultural partners through locally tailored programs, technical assistance and data-driven advisory services.
The company also launched Supporting Trusted Engagement and Partnership (STEP) Up for Agriculture, a collaborative initiative with Unilever, other food and beverage manufacturers, and retail customers. The program is intended to strengthen farmer-facing organizations through training, technical support and the promotion of regenerative agriculture practices.
“Our Positive Agriculture agenda is delivering impact for both people and the planet. While there is more work ahead, this momentum underscores what’s possible through strong collaboration and continuous innovation,” said Jim Andrew, Chief Sustainability Officer and Executive Vice President at PepsiCo.
PepsiCo also reported continued progress toward its sustainable sourcing objective. As of 2025, the company said 70% of its key agricultural ingredients are sustainably sourced in accordance with its internal guidelines, while a further approximately 2% of ingredient volumes are progressing through its “Engaged” pathway toward more sustainable production.
The company’s Sustainable Farming Program and Sustainable Sourcing Guidelines continue to support suppliers in adopting agricultural practices designed to improve environmental performance and strengthen long-term resilience.
PepsiCo also said that since 2021 it has supported approximately 224,000 people through programs aimed at improving economic opportunities and farmer and farm worker security, approaching its target of positively impacting more than 250,000 livelihoods by 2030.
Among the initiatives highlighted were the She Feeds the World partnership with CARE, the Collaborative Farming Program in India, the Agrovita program with Proforest in Mexico, and the 1,000 Farmers Endless Prosperity initiative in Türkiye.
The company also expanded collaborations with organizations including Practical Farmers of Iowa, Cool Soils, Rimba Collective and Milhão to encourage wider adoption of regenerative agriculture while supporting greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
In addition, PepsiCo said it supported more than 15 agricultural innovation projects during 2025 through its Positive Agriculture Outcome Accelerator, reaching more than 1,100 farmers through demonstration farms, field trials and training programs.
Looking ahead, the company said it will continue focusing on strengthening the resilience of farming communities, soils, biodiversity and watersheds, embedding measurable impact across its agricultural initiatives, and supporting transformation in key sourcing regions. PepsiCo added that further reporting on its deforestation-related commitments will be published later in 2026.
