FPS Food Process Solutions Expands Portfolio With Southern Fabrication Works Addition

FPS Food Process Solutions has announced the addition of Southern Fabrication Works (SFW) to its portfolio, further strengthening its position as a supplier of turn-key food processing solutions.
The Vancouver-based group said the move expands its technical offering in custom industrial food processing systems, particularly within the potato processing sector, where SFW is well established. Southern Fabrication Works is recognised for designing and manufacturing integrated, high-precision equipment supported by in-house engineering and project execution capabilities.
According to FPS, the integration adds advanced hydro-cutting systems, water knife technology, water recycling and waste-handling solutions, as well as broader plant engineering expertise to its global operations. The company stated that these capabilities will reinforce its ability to deliver end-to-end processing solutions to customers worldwide.
Neil Justesen, President and Owner of Southern Fabrication Works, said the partnership aligns strategically and culturally with SFW’s direction.
“The SFW family is super excited to partner with a progressive company such as FPS, who shares similar ideology. The FPS team has been extremely welcoming and respectful. We appreciate the value they place in all their partnerships and look forward to contributing to their global initiatives.”
Jeffrey Chang, President of FPS Food Process Solutions Corp., positioned the addition as part of a broader strategy to deepen system integration across the group’s portfolio.
“FPS has always aimed to provide full End-to-End solutions for our customers,” said Chang. “The timing was right to join forces. We’re pleased to welcome a trusted and respected name into our group.”
The development follows another recent portfolio expansion by FPS, which strengthened its coating and product treatment capabilities through the integration of Symotab, further reinforcing the group’s presence across key stages of food processing operations.
For potato processors in particular, the addition of hydro-cutting and water knife technologies is strategically relevant. These systems are widely used in French fry and fresh-cut potato production, where precision cutting, yield optimisation and water management are critical operational parameters. By integrating SFW’s engineering expertise, FPS moves closer to its stated objective of delivering comprehensive line solutions under a single corporate structure.
The latest announcement underscores FPS’s continued consolidation strategy within specialised segments of food processing technology. With SFW now part of the group, FPS broadens its technical depth in primary cutting and water management systems — capabilities that sit upstream of many freezing, frying and downstream processing stages traditionally associated with the company’s portfolio.
As consolidation continues across the global equipment landscape, vertically integrated solution providers are positioning themselves to serve processors seeking fewer interfaces and greater system accountability. FPS’s latest move reflects that trajectory.
