PepsiCo Plans USD1 Billion Colombia Investment Over Five Years

PepsiCo plans to invest USD1 billion in Colombia over the next five years to expand production, modernize operations and strengthen distribution, according to an announcement by Colombian President Abelardo De La Espriella.
The president announced the commitment on September 27. A subsequent statement from the presidency said the investment would support employment, more than 2,000 farmers and the country’s small retailers. Reuters also reported the announcement.
The programme follows meetings between Colombian government officials and international investors in New York. The presidency said it would strengthen PepsiCo’s relationships with agricultural suppliers, distributors and other businesses supporting its Colombian operations.
PepsiCo has already invested in infrastructure serving Colombia’s potato supply chain. In April 2025, the company inaugurated a potato post-harvest and storage centre in Tenjo, Cundinamarca. According to Colombia’s foreign ministry, that facility represented an investment of COP80 billion and can store up to 20,000 tonnes of potatoes for up to six months.
The new announcement covers PepsiCo’s wider Colombian operations. It does not specify how much of the USD1 billion will be allocated to potato processing or identify individual factory projects and capacity additions.
