Polysense Secures USD10.7 Million to Expand AI Quality Control for Food Manufacturers

Belgian food technology company Polysense has raised $10.7 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round to accelerate the global rollout of its AI-powered quality control and process optimization platform for food manufacturers.
The round was led by Felix Capital, with participation from Fortino Ventures, Syndicate One and several angel investors, including 100IN. According to the company, the investment will support product development, international expansion and recruitment as it seeks to establish its technology as a standard for quality and process control in food manufacturing.
Headquartered in Ghent, Polysense develops AI-native systems that combine computer vision, real-time imaging and automated process control to monitor production lines continuously. The platform is designed to detect quality deviations as they occur and automatically adjust production parameters before defects result in product losses.
The funding follows a $2.2 million investment round completed just over a year ago. Since then, the company has expanded from pilot projects to commercial deployments with several major food manufacturers, including potato processor Agristo, frozen vegetable producer Darta and Poppies Bakeries. Initially focused on Europe, Polysense has also expanded into the United States and the Middle East.
Its technology has been deployed across vegetable, potato, bakery, confectionery and packaging production lines.
“The past twelve months have been incredible. The traction is real. We went from early pilots to live deployments with some of the largest food manufacturers in the world, and they are growing their rollouts. The food industry has been waiting for a solution to this problem. Polysense delivers one that works. This funding lets us move faster and reach many more lines around the world. We are just getting started,” said Yarne De Munck, CEO and co-founder of Polysense.
The company highlighted results achieved by existing customers, including a leading European potato processor that reduced peeling time by 45% through real-time monitoring of peel quality combined with automated process adjustments. It also reported yield improvements at a bakery manufacturer through automatic oven temperature control.
Polysense says its platform operates in three stages. Its Qualify system performs continuous inline inspection, the Polysense Platform aggregates quality and process data across production lines, while AutoControl automatically adjusts machine settings in real time to compensate for variations in raw materials and operating conditions.
“I am incredibly proud of what our engineering team has built. For the first time, food manufacturers have a system that inspects every single product on the line in real time and automatically corrects the process when something drifts. This is not an incremental improvement. It unlocks a level of quality control the food industry has never had access to before,” said Lucas Van Dijck, CTO and co-founder of Polysense.
According to Eurostat data cited by the company, food and beverage manufacturing accounts for 19% of food waste in the European Union. Polysense argues that continuous monitoring and automated process adjustments can help manufacturers reduce waste, improve yields and maintain more consistent product quality despite variations in raw materials.
“What sets Polysense apart is their deep understanding of food manufacturing. They understand the complexity of our production environment and the challenges we face every day. The technology works on the production floor, delivers measurable results, and helps our team make better decisions in real time,” said Kristof Lefever, owner of Fourneo Flatbreads.
Felix Capital said it was attracted by both the scale of the opportunity and the company’s early commercial success.
“At Felix, we have studied and invested in many parts of the food value chain, and have a deep appreciation for the size of the market as well as the depth and complexity of the problem that Polysense solves. When we first met Polysense, we were immediately impressed with the team’s knowledge, ambition, and deep technical rigor. Within a few months of launch, Polysense won the trust of some of the biggest food manufacturers in the world, and has delivered tangible value to their customers. We are excited to be a part of this journey alongside a remarkable group of partners,” said Angela Chou, investor at Felix Capital.
The new funding will be used to expand the platform across additional stages of food production, accelerate customer deployments and strengthen the company’s engineering, sales and customer success teams.
