Samuel Schär Takes Over As CEO Of Bühler Group As Leadership Transition Enters Final Phase

Samuel Schär has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Bühler Group, effective January 1, 2026, marking the final step in a leadership transition first announced in April last year. He succeeds Stefan Scheiber, who is set to be nominated as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the company’s Annual General Meeting in February 2026.
The handover positions Schär at the helm of the Swiss technology group at a time when Bühler continues to emphasize sustainability-driven innovation across the food, feed, and mobility industries. Commenting on the transition, Schär said: “More than ever, Bühler has an important role to play in the sustainable transformation of the food, feed, and mobility industries. I am excited to lead the company into its next stage of development. Our focus will remain on creating value for our customers, driving meaningful innovation, and growing our business sustainably. Together with our global teams, we will continue to build strong partnerships and deliver solutions that enable our customers’ success.”
Schär’s appointment underscores continuity within Bühler’s senior leadership. He joined the company two decades ago, initially establishing the Nanotechnology business unit, before going on to lead the Grinding & Dispersing business area. In 2013, he became a member of the Group Executive Board and subsequently headed the Advanced Materials segment for ten years. Most recently, he has been responsible for the Global Services & Sales organization. Schär holds a degree in physics from EPFL Lausanne.
As part of the same succession plan, long-serving CEO Stefan Scheiber will be nominated for election as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the February 2026 Annual General Meeting. Scheiber has spent 35 years with Bühler, including two decades in Group Management roles and the past ten years as Chief Executive Officer.
The AGM will also mark the departure of Calvin Grieder from the Board. Grieder, the current Chairman, will step down after 25 years in senior leadership roles at Bühler, during which he served as CEO, Board Member, and Chairman of the Board.
