Tummers and Callens Partner to Advance Emission-Free Potato Processing

Dutch processing equipment specialist Tummers Food Processing Solutions and Belgian thermal energy expert Callens have entered a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of Tummers’ Emission-to-Energy (E2E) concept. The collaboration aims to push the boundaries of sustainability in potato processing by combining advanced energy recovery systems with fully automated production.
According to both companies, the partnership represents a logical step toward the realisation of an emission-free, energy-self-sufficient factory. Under the E2E concept, efficiency, circularity and energy recovery are central to Tummers’ technological roadmap, while Callens contributes its expertise in energy generation, heat integration and steam management.
“This collaboration is no coincidence, but a logical step,” said Lennaert van Dijk, CEO of Tummers Group. “With Callens as our partner, we combine our expertise in potato processing with their in-depth knowledge of energy and steam. Together, we’re taking a major step toward our ultimate goal: an emission-free, fully automated factory.”
Bert De Gryse, Technical Director at Callens, added: “Tummers and Callens share the same vision for the future: making industrial processes smarter, more sustainable, and more energy-efficient. Our collaboration is complementary and will have a significant impact on the industry and possibly beyond.”
The partnership will focus first on integrating Callens’ energy systems within the E2E framework to create what the companies describe as a “lights-off factory” — a plant capable of autonomous operation using renewable energy without emissions or unnecessary energy consumption.
Initial results from joint projects are expected to be implemented in both existing and new customer installations. Further technical details will be released through official channels in the coming months.
