Digital Technologies and Live Demonstrations Set the Agenda for PotatoEurope 2026

PotatoEurope and the inaugural SugarBeet Expo will showcase the latest advances in digital farming, artificial intelligence, direct seeding and live machinery demonstrations when they take place on 9-10 September at Rittergut Gestorf in Springe, near Hanover, Germany.
The co-located outdoor events will bring together growers, machinery manufacturers, technology suppliers and researchers to present practical solutions aimed at improving productivity, sustainability and resource efficiency in potato and sugar beet production.
At PotatoEurope, digitalization and artificial intelligence will be among the key themes. Organizers say the continued integration of digital technologies is set to drive the next phase of productivity gains in potato farming, building on decades of mechanization. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore robotics, digital crop management, precision farming technologies and other innovations through field demonstrations, exhibitor displays and the technical programme.
Meanwhile, SugarBeet Expo will focus on direct seeding as an alternative cultivation system for sugar beet. According to the organizers, the approach is attracting growing interest for its potential to improve soil structure, increase water retention and enhance resource efficiency. Although direct seeding presents challenges, including slower soil warming and the possibility of reduced yields under certain conditions, practical experience suggests it can offer a viable alternative to conventional cultivation systems.
Visitors will be able to learn more about the agronomic and practical aspects of direct seeding through technical presentations and live machinery demonstrations during the event.
