Free Fries Treats on National French Fry Day

Companies in the USA are preparing for the National French Fry Day (July 13), celebrating the fact that potatoes and tomatoes account for more than half of all vegetables consumed by Americans every year, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Simplot will celebrate National French Fry Day with free French fries from 4-7 p.m. Thursday. The event will be held outside at Celebration Circle, in the open space along Ninth Street between the Simplot headquarters building and JUMP in downtown Boise, in Idaho.
French fries and drinks are free to attendees. However, the Idaho Foodbank will be on hand to accept canned good or monetary donations.
“We wanted to celebrate National French Fry Day and what better way to do it than serving up free French fries,” said Bill Whitacre, president and CEO of the J.R. Simplot Company. “This is also a chance to thank the public for their patience during the construction of our new building and for their tremendous support of the J.R. Simplot Company over the years.”
The fast-casual restaurant Penn Station East Coast Subs will celebrate National French Fry Day giving away the brand’s made-to-order, fresh-cut fries with any sub purchase. “National French Fry Day is a fun ‘holiday’ that celebrates one of our signature items: our fresh-cut fries,” says Penn Station president Craig Dunaway. “Customers love our fries, and National French Fry Day is the perfect time to reward them with free fries.” All Penn Station locations are participating in Fry Day. Penn Station was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1985.
Other companies, such as Burger King, McDonald’s or New York Fries, prepare to offer free French Fry treats or menu offers.
National French Fry Day is celebrated in Canada and several other countries, as well.
