PotatoEurope Returns to Germany With Expanded Live Demonstration Programme

PotatoEurope will return to Germany on September 9–10, bringing around 300 exhibitors to Rittergut Gestorf in Springe near Hanover for two days of field demonstrations, technical presentations and crop trials.
Organiser DLG, the German Agricultural Society, expects approximately 12,000 trade visitors from Germany and international markets. The 2026 edition will run alongside the inaugural SugarBeet Expo, creating a joint exhibition for potato and sugar beet production under the theme “Make Your Business Grow”.
For potato professionals, a major part of the programme will again be live machinery operation under field conditions. DLG says 30 potato machines and equipment combinations will be demonstrated, covering operations including planting, crop protection, harvesting, transport, cleaning and loading. Visitors will be able to compare one-, two- and four-row potato harvesters as part of the programme.
Digitalisation will have a prominent role through the DLG Spotlight “Digital Farming powered by FarmRobotix”. The dedicated area will focus on robotics, automation, artificial intelligence and data management, with autonomous machinery, sensor technologies and AI-supported decision systems among the technologies scheduled for demonstration.
A second Spotlight will address agricultural logistics, including tractors, specialist trailers, moving-floor systems, conveyors, potato boxes, covering technologies and logistics software. The programme will also consider the legal and economic aspects of moving agricultural products from the field through the supply chain.
Organic potato production forms the subject of another dedicated Spotlight. Variety selection, weed control and nutrient management without chemical-synthetic crop protection products will be discussed through presentations, practical demonstrations and expert sessions, alongside the commercial challenges associated with producing and marketing organic potatoes.
Trial areas will provide a further practical component. The Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony, together with the Seed Growers Association of Lower Saxony and the Dethlingen Trial Station, will operate six potato plots covering current agronomic challenges. Varieties, fertiliser programmes and crop protection approaches will be presented under field conditions.
The DLG Expert Stage will meanwhile host presentations and panel discussions involving representatives from farming, research and industry during both exhibition days.
PotatoEurope 2026 will cover the potato value chain from breeding and cultivation through harvesting, storage and processing. Its co-location with SugarBeet Expo also expands the machinery programme, with sugar beet sowing, harvesting and logistics equipment demonstrated alongside potato technology.
The event will take place from 9:00 to 18:00 on both September 9 and 10 at Rittergut Gestorf 1, Springe, near Hanover.
