Trade visitors can start gearing up for Fruit Logistica, taking place from February, 7-9, in Berlin, Germany, with "Spotlight – Premieres and Innovations".

The 68 Spotlight reports published so far include 23 world premieres and 11 European premieres.

Spotlight is a category of reports, available on the trade fair website, which are meant to strengthen the role of Fruit Logistica as an innovation platform.

These reports showcase  23 world premieres and 11 European ones. Among them, there are also potato products and equipment, such as:

1. SmartSpud™, the industry’s leading smart sensor for potatoes, and ProduceQC, the customizable smart sensor for perishable produce, have been significantly upgraded with advanced sensor technology. After more than two years of ongoing development, aaggrrii by Masitek is unveiling the two completely overhauled sensors. Designed to quantify and pinpoint damage that producers are experiencing during harvesting, handling and packaging, real-time data is generated to indicate the extent of produce exposure to various influences such as impact and pressure. The new sensors feature a vastly enhanced sampling rate and Bluetooth beacons for wireless tracking. A new client portal and tablet interface as well as photo capture integration further improve the user experience.

 2. Bayard, a family-run business based in France, has made it its mission to discover potato varieties. Using sustainable production techniques and recognized expertise, the company aims to educate consumers about the diversity of potatoes, along with their many different textures and uses.
At Fruit Logistica, Maison Bayard presents numerous newly rediscovered potato varieties such as Institut de Beauvais and Corne de Gâte, Agria, Anden Sunside, Blue Belle, Blue Star, Double Fun, Lily Rose, Miss Blush, and Juliette des sables. The company is committed to organic farming with the greatest respect for the environment.

3. Natura Crisp is a natural and crispy snack that is produced using only the freshest raw materials. Fresh produce from a controlled production chain is processed and packaged in a protected atmosphere, as the producer describes it. Toasted, not deep fried, without added sugar (only contains the natural sugar from the fresh produce), with no colorants and preservatives. Safe and always fresh, with a long shelf life of ten months after the packing date. Available in three unusual flavors - potato, red beet and carrot and also in a tasty mix.

According to Fruit Logistica Global Brand Manager Wilfried Wollbold: "Spotlight will help Fruit Logistica strengthen its leading role as an innovation platform. We are delighted that exhibitors regard Fruit Logistica as the ideal place to present their premieres and innovations. Spotlight gives trade visitors a chance to see a comprehensive overview of the event ahead of time and prepare for Fruit Logistica more efficiently."

The new information format complements the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (FLIA), which looks at products and services brought to market in the last twelve months, and the Future Lab, which showcases innovative projects that will transform the fresh produce industry in the next two to five years. Spotlight presents the year's premieres and innovations and places them on center stage.

Spotlight is a free service for exhibitors, trade visitors and industry journalists. It is available on the Fruit Logistica website under press service, visitor service, and in the Virtual Market Place.
