Hamburg Potato Gathering to Assess 2026 Market and Harvest Prospects

Germany’s potato industry will gather in Hamburg on September 29 for the 73rd International Autumn Potato Get-together, with current market conditions and the first official indications of the 2026 harvest expected to feature prominently in discussions.
Organised by the German Potato Trade Association (DKHV) at the Hotel Hafen Hamburg, the annual event brings together companies and representatives from potato trading, packing, breeding, processing, machinery and other parts of the value chain.
The timing of this year’s meeting places Germany’s latest harvest assessment close to the centre of the discussion. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Homeland (BMLEH) is due to publish preliminary results for the 2026 potato harvest on September 23 under Germany’s Special Harvest and Quality Assessment (BEE).
Those figures are expected to provide the industry with an initial indication of national harvest volumes and quality shortly before delegates meet in Hamburg.
Christoph Hambloch, potato market analyst at Agrarmarkt Informationsgesellschaft (AMI), will provide an assessment of current potato market developments and an outlook for the coming months during the event.
The programme will also include a welcome address from Dr Melanie Leonhard, Hamburg’s Senator for Economic Affairs, Labour and Innovation.
Alongside the market presentation, DKHV said the meeting will provide an opportunity for companies across the potato supply chain to meet customers and partners, discuss market developments and establish new business contacts.
The 73rd International Autumn Potato Get-together will begin at 17:00, with admission from 16:30, at Hotel Hafen Hamburg.
