The EB Price for English White Potatoes Grew By Two Digits Y-O-Y in July
Starting on July 5th, Maris Piper and White potato prices in England and Scotland did not fluctuate week over week (w-o-w). English white potato prices though were up 91% year over year (y-o-y) to GBP765/MT on the Expana Benchmark Price (EBP).
“Maris Piper potatoes are priced at the same level but are difficult to source, market players told Expana. Expana heard a large spread in prices, influenced by the arrangement and relationship with growers,” the latest Mintel info reveals.
Access to the latest season of Maris Piper is restricted to those under contract. In around ten days (July 15th), England’s maincrop potato harvest is predicted to start. Market participants predict that prices will likely stay high until August, depending on supply and demand, as buyers are still avidly pursuing the crop.
