Frito Lay has been awarded a $2 million grant for expansion and job-creation in Wisconsin, America.

The company says the community development block grant will help create 24 full-time jobs at their factory in Beloit.

The company is also the 29th in the state to be accepted into the ‘Green Tier' programme which recognises firms which work hard to improve their environmental credentials.

Since 1999, the Beloit site has reduced its water usage by over 50 per cent; natural gas by 35 percent and electricity by 22 percent per pound of finished product produced.

Frito Lay uses more than 500,000 pounds of Wisconsin-grown potatoes each day.
