FAM STUMABO Expands SureTec 240P Infeed to Handle Larger Potatoes

FAM STUMABO has introduced a redesigned infeed chute for its SureTec 240P cutter, increasing the maximum potato input diameter from 110 mm to 200 mm while retaining a maximum product length of 240 mm.
The contoured infeed replaces the standard chute and handles both white and sweet potatoes. According to the company, it guides potatoes into the cutting drum in a position that helps maximise fry length and throughput while reducing blockages, particularly when processing sweet potatoes.
The larger input diameter accommodates a wider range of raw material, including larger sweet potatoes. The machine’s 240 mm-wide drum allows long potatoes to be cut at full length.
FAM STUMABO is also emphasising simplified setup as processors face difficulties recruiting and retaining technical personnel.
“Skilled technical personnel are becoming harder to find and retain, so processors need equipment that is less dependent on specialist operator knowledge. With SureTec 240P, we have taken away many of the traditional set-up variables. This makes it easier for operators to achieve a correct and consistent setup. The positive response we are seeing from potato processors confirms that this is a challenge they recognise immediately and that this approach responds to a real market need,” said Leighton Banner, branch manager, FAM STUMABO UK & Ireland.
The machine’s SureCut Unit allows cutting components to be assembled and the required cut size preset away from the machine. Spare units can be prepared in advance and installed as complete assemblies. The company says this reduces on-machine adjustment, limits setup errors and helps shorten production interruptions during changeovers.
SureTec 240P can process peel-on, abrasive-peeled or steam-peeled white and sweet potatoes into flat, crinkle and deep-crinkle French fries, as well as dice and slices. It retains a choice of impellers for product alignment, together with a slipper clutch and slip detection system designed to protect cutting components from foreign-object damage.
FAM STUMABO will present the updated machine at INTERPOM in Kortrijk, Belgium, from November 29 to December 1, 2026, in Hall 1, booth 199.
