OMRON Unveils FHV7-AI Detection Camera to Simplify AI-Based Quality Control

OMRON has introduced the FHV7-AI Detection Camera, a new addition to its industrial vision systems range, designed to simplify AI-driven inspection on production lines and make automated quality control more accessible to manufacturers in sectors such as food, packaging, and consumer goods.
According to the company, the FHV7-AI Detection Camera combines advanced AI inspection with a simplified step-by-step user interface and compact, all-in-one design. This approach reduces engineering time and cost of ownership, enabling high-accuracy inspection without the need for complex configuration or specialized expertise.
The system uses artificial intelligence to automatically learn from a limited number of sample images, eliminating lengthy manual setup. OMRON says this reduces configuration time from hours to minutes while ensuring consistent, reliable performance even as product variations occur. The camera is suitable for common inspection tasks such as identifying missing components, verifying correct product types, detecting scratches or dents, and confirming that date codes are present and legible.
Ease of use is central to the system’s design. A new interface provides on-screen instructions that guide operators through lighting, focus, and image registration steps. This allows even users with limited vision system experience to establish robust inspection routines, reducing dependency on specialist engineers.
Built for industrial environments, the FHV7-AI Detection Camera features an IP67-rated housing with integrated white LED lighting and five autofocus lens options. Its all-in-one structure removes the need for external lenses or enclosures, helping reduce setup and maintenance costs. The autofocus function covers a focal range from 59 mm to 2,000 mm, automatically adjusting when product sizes change — an advantage for high-speed food and packaging lines that demand quick changeovers and consistent quality.
“By combining powerful AI capabilities with ease of use and a cost-effective, scalable design, the FHV7-AI Detection Camera opens up new possibilities for manufacturers of all sizes,” OMRON stated in its announcement. The company adds that the system helps “automate inspections that were previously too complex or costly to implement,” supporting stable product quality, waste reduction, and regulatory compliance.
The FHV7-AI Detection Camera extends OMRON’s established family of vision solutions and is particularly suited for applications where accuracy, reliability, and traceability are critical — including food processing, packaging, automotive, and consumer goods industries.
