America’s favorite potato dish is French fries, a new survey by DoorDash – an on-demand food delivery service – has recently revealed. Commissioned in honor of National Potato Day, which was celebrated on August 19, the study showed that French fries made up 69% of the top potato dishes ordered nationwide, ranking as the #1 item ordered this year on DoorDash.

Interestingly DoorDash found that Americans even love French fries for breakfast, as the dish took the top spot for the most popular potato ordered for breakfast.

Hash browns surged 1,200% amongst potato items ordered during breakfast time between 2018 and 2019. The survey also stated that tater tots were 3x more popular in 2019 than in 2018.

Americans appear to prefer the classics, as consumers in the country would choose traditional French fries over waffle fries, with traditional coming in two spots ahead of waffle fries at #1 and #3, respectively.

Potatoes are often served in combination with sauces and condiments. According to DoorDash, the cheese sauce was the most popular condiment for potato orders in both 2019 and 2018, while salt and vinegar was the 4th most popular condiment for spuds.
