Gurma Enters the Bio Potato Chips Segment
Gurma, a brand of the Spanish group Fritoper, has partnered up with the Eat is Life restaurant chain to develop a new range of Bio potato chips, writes Sweet Press.
So far there are two flavors available: Ibiza Salt and Turmeric & Pepper. According to the report, the natural ingredients used in the manufacture of the snacks are certified by the Committee of Ecological Agriculture of the Valencian Community. The chips are gluten-free, lactose-free and fried with high-oleic sunflower oil.
As demand for organic food shows no sign of slowing down, potato chips manufacturers are responding to demand by developing products for this consumer category. For example, recently PepsiCo launched its 100% organic potato chips offering called Lay’s BIO. The snacks are reportedly available on the Spanish market and come with a European certification that guarantees the organic cultivation of the ingredients. The same chips can also be found in France.
