Wendy’s has brought Bacon Pub Fries back to its US restaurants as part of a limited-time autumn menu built around pub-inspired flavors.

The potato side combines the quick-service chain’s Hot & Crispy Fries with beer cheese sauce, shredded cheddar and Applewood-smoked bacon pieces. Its return illustrates the continued use of loaded fries as a platform for menu differentiation, allowing restaurant operators to create premium, limited-time products around an established potato base.

The fries form part of a broader Pretzel Bacon Pub range launched nationwide on August 3. Wendy’s is also returning the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger after it won the company’s consumer-voted “Bring It Back” bracket earlier this year.

A Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken Sandwich has been added to the range, using a chicken fillet with the same beer cheese sauce, bacon, smoky honey mustard, crispy onions, pickles and Muenster cheese served with the burger version.

“The ‘Bring It Back’ bracket made one thing clear: Wendy’s fans wanted the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger back, and we’re excited to deliver,” said Lindsay Radkoski, chief marketing officer at Wendy’s. “From the Pretzel Bacon Pub lineup to the Apple Crumble Frosty Fusion, this season’s menu is packed with the bold, elevated flavors fans are craving.”

For the potato sector, the Bacon Pub Fries offer another example of major foodservice operators using toppings, sauces and seasonal positioning to increase the value of French fry portions beyond their conventional role as a standard side.

Loaded fries also give chains a relatively straightforward route to menu innovation because different flavor combinations can be introduced without replacing the underlying fry format or substantially changing kitchen preparation.

The autumn launch is completed by a new Apple Crumble Frosty Fusion, made with a vanilla Frosty, spiced apple syrup and oat crumble. All products are available for a limited period at participating Wendy’s restaurants in the US.
