MJP Supplies Marks 20 Years with Algifol at British Potato

MJP Supplies will exhibit at British Potato for a second time this November, marking 20 years of representing Algifol in the UK with a special on-stand competition. The company, which began distributing the seaweed-based biostimulant in 2005, will be on stand 132A in Hall A at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, on 19–20 November.
“British Potato 2023 was our first appearance at the show, and we were very pleased with the interest Algifol received, so we’re exhibiting again,” said Marcus Palmer, owner of MJP Supplies. “As 2025 is our 20th year representing Algifol in the UK, we will also be running a celebratory competition on the stand, giving people the chance to win one of 20 discount vouchers ranging from one to twenty per cent. To enter, people hand their business card when visiting our stand or fill in a simple entry form.”
Algifol, developed in Germany by Neo-Med Pharma, is produced from concentrated brown algae gathered from the North Atlantic. According to the company, the refinement process preserves trace elements, vitamins, enzymes, amino acids, carbohydrates, polyuronides and growth-regulating plant hormones.
MJP Supplies cites trial work showing that Algifol applications have supported stress tolerance, nutrient efficiency, root development, photosynthesis, tuber quality and yield improvements. Field trials conducted by 3 Shires Ltd and Whole Crop Marketing reported increases in tuber numbers, weight and uniformity, even under challenging growing conditions.
“Algifol is growing in popularity, and our sales have increased every year since I first started marketing Algifol to UK growers, and we receive lots of repeat orders, which is fantastic,” Palmer added.
