Rising French digital start-up, Sencrop has developed an innovative weather station that can be used in a cluster and could potentially aid with decision-making processes on UK farms.

The company’s weather stations are installed on individual farms with the aim of collecting a range of agri-environmental data including air temperature, rainfall, humidity, leaf wetness, as well as wind speed in real life. This information is then accessible via a dashboard on desktop or through a dedicated mobile app.

According to the start-up, having access to this localized data will allow farmers to take better decisions thus saving time, money and ultimately increase efficiency.

However, Sencrop system’s real strength arises from collaboration, as farmers have the option to share data between individual neighboring field stations. Thus, decisions can be taken in a broader context, based on local analysis and recommendations.

Founded in 2016 in Lille, France, Sencrop entered the UK market in November 2018. The company has already installed 100 stations in the UK.

Sencrop’s network system aims to cater to the whole agricultural community including to farmers, agronomists, research industry suppliers, organizations and more.

The startup just showcased its agro-meteorological measurement system at LAMMA 2019 (held between January 8-9) and received a lot of positive feedback from farmers and advisors. Sencrop also recently raised USD10m in funding, a sum which will be used to expand endeavors in the UK.
