Potato Pathology and Pests Section Meeting 2016 Takes Place in Scotland

The European Association for Potato Research (EAPR) organizes in Dundee Scotland, a scientific meeting named “Pathology and Pests Section Meeting 2016”, August 7-11.
The program contains conferences on potato diseases, seeds health and the coordinated initiatives on plant health in Europe, but also special day dedicated to the potato industry. A copy of the full program can be found here.
Pests and pathogens remain a major constraint to food security in a world where potato is rising in importance as a major food crop.
The speakers will describe some of the main potato pest and pathogen threats on each of the five different continents (Africa, Asia, Australasia, North America and South America), to add context to our research in Europe and how it aligns with that of other nations worldwide.
These meeting coincide with Potatoes in Practice (PiP), hosted by the James Hutton Institute, which is the largest potato field event in the UK and is held every year in the same location, attracting visitors from around the world. The event is aimed at farmers, agronomists, industry, scientists and policy maker. Potatoes in Practice brings together a variety of demonstrations, research and trade exhibits in one place, making it an essential date in the potato industry calendar. The event is organised and hosted by the James Hutton Institute in partnership with AHDB Potatoes, SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College) and Agrii.
