The European Potato Demand is High but the Supplies are Constrained

Because the seeded area in Europe is less than in 2020 and demand has risen by 2m tonnes each year since then, potato supply may be curtailed this year.
According to reports in the U.K., buyers of maincrop potatoes have been making every attempt to return prices to ‘contract levels.’ with more and more producers now opting for storage.
In Ireland, home consumption and retail sales have stabilized as colder, wet weather conditions have returned.
“Demand for remaining Queens remains strong and in turn, demand is buoyant for Kerr Pinks coming onto the market. There are more new season Rooster slowly coming onto the market as it is fit, however, current harvesting conditions are very challenging. The effects of the late planting season are transparent now as crops are slow to mature in some areas,” the latest IFA report reveals.
