Ukraine’s Potato Imports Surge 5.1-Fold In First Ten Months Of 2025

Ukraine imported 123,140 tonnes of potatoes between January and October 2025, a 5.1-fold increase compared with the same period a year earlier, according to data from the State Customs Service published by EastFruit.
The value of these imports rose 4.8 times year-on-year to USD 66.086 million, up from USD 13.69 million in the same period of 2024. Poland accounted for the largest share of import value at 36.9%, followed by Egypt with 13.7% and the Netherlands with 11.6%.
Ukraine’s potato export volumes moved in the opposite direction. According to Interfax-Ukraine, shipments declined by 13.4% to 2,140 tonnes in the first ten months of the year. Despite the lower volume, export revenues increased by 2.4% to USD 521,000. Moldova remained the top destination, taking 58.5% of total exports, followed by Azerbaijan with 38.6% and Singapore with 0.6%.
Trade dynamics showed strong contrasts in October. Ukraine imported 359 tonnes of potatoes during the month, down 11.4-fold from 4,090 tonnes in October 2024. Meanwhile, exports increased 4.6 times to 269 tonnes.
