KFC’s Potato Wedges Return—US Comeback Kicks Off August 18

KFC is bringing back two fan-favorite menu items — Potato Wedges and Hot & Spicy Wings — nationwide from August 18, following years of customer demand.

First introduced in the mid-1990s, Potato Wedges quickly earned cult status in the late 1990s and early 2000s before their discontinuation in 2020. The seasoned, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside wedges made a surprise return earlier this year in Tampa, Florida, where strong local response led to early sellouts.

Joining them in this comeback is another classic, KFC’s Hot & Spicy Wings. These feature a spicy marinade, double hand-breading in the brand’s Extra Crispy™ flour, and are designed to pair with the wedges for a balanced, flavorful combination. While the wedges are returning after five years, the wings are making their first national reappearance in nearly two years.

“Wedge-lovers, we heard you—and we agree it’s been five long years without wedges. But the wait is over,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President, KFC U.S. “This isn’t just a nostalgic nod. It’s an example of how we’re turning feedback into action as we chart our Kentucky Fried Comeback, a bold, brand-wide rally to give people more reasons to fall in love with us all over again.”

Customers will be able to order Potato Wedges on their own, substitute them for any side, or try them as part of a six-piece Wings & Wedges Combo with a medium drink. Secret Recipe Fries will remain on the menu for those who prefer them.

KFC is also launching a series of promotions tied to the return:

$3.99 KFC Chicken Sandwich (available Aug. 18) – An Extra Crispy™ chicken breast filet on a toasted brioche bun with pickles and mayo or spicy mayo.
$20 Wings & Wedges Fan Favorites Box (available Aug. 18) – Includes 10 Hot & Spicy Wings, 12 KFC Chicken Nuggets, Potato Wedges, four biscuits, and four dipping sauces.
20 Wings for $20 (starting Sept. 4, KFC digital exclusive) – Comes with four dipping sauces.
$10 Tuesdays – Eight pieces of fried chicken or eight Original Recipe® Tenders for $10.

Both returning items will be available while supplies last at KFC restaurants nationwide.
