Veg of Lund’s Potato Ice Cream Receives a Swedish Patent

Veg of Lund AB has been informed by the Swedish Intellectual Property Office (PRV) that it wants to approve the patent application SE 2250375-9, describing the firm’s distinctive vegetable ice cream substitute. This indicates that the Swedish market is covered by the impending patent protection.
The PRV’s announcement has bolstered Veg of Lund’s patent portfolio, which covers the company’s vegan ice cream made from a frozen emulsion of potatoes, rapeseed oil, and a vegetable protein.
“We are pleased that a patent is approved in Sweden. The fact it is based on such an everyday crop as potatoes shows the uniqueness and strength of the patent,” Eva Tornberg, founder and chairman of the board at Veg of Lund, mentioned.
The same technique is covered by an active PTC (patent cooperation treaty) international patent application for Veg of Lund. The company also holds active patent applications in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA for the plant-based potato drink (DUG), which has been granted an approved patent in Sweden and Europe. The company has also been granted a Swedish patent that covers the smoothie made with potatoes.
