Potato Council’s Cheshire Potato Event to Gather all North West Potato Growers

North West potato growers, advisors and agronomists will meet in Aston, Runcorn, 24 June, 2014 to get the latest technical information at Potato Council’s Cheshire Potato event, as host farmers Andrew and Steve Shaw are opening their farm gates to growers who are serious about a long-term future in the potato industry.
Following registration from 16.30, Dr Rob Clayton, director of Potato Council will open the event, according to the announcement made by the Potato Council.
Cultivation strategies following a wet winter will then be the theme for an expert panel comprising Matt Smallwood of SA Consulting; John Sarup of Spud Agronomy and Potato Council’s Chris Steele. The interactive field session will address soil moisture, machinery choice and timing, along with other regionally-specific issues.
Caroline Evans, head of marketing and corporate affairs at Potato Council will present the revised definition of the New Potato in GB and senior analyst, Hannah Goodwin will provide an overview of the 2014 Early Potato Market and supply situation.
A final panel will give their unique insight and take questions from the floor on the demand and market opportunities for Cheshire Early Potatoes. The panel line-up of local potato professionals includes Richard Park of E Park & Sons; Tod Bulmer of Kenyon Hall Farm; and Simon Leaver from Fylde Fresh & Fabulous.
