Ukrainian Potato Growers Received a New 118,000 USD Storage Facility

A new warehouse with 3,000 tons of simultaneous storage capacity was equipped and recently launched at the production base in the village of Batyatychi (Lviv district, Lviv region) by the Continental Farmers Group for storing their seed potatoes.
Continental’s management allocated UAH3.2m (USD118,129) to equip the warehouse. This potato storage is designed specifically for the stockpiling of cultivar seeds, the harvest of which this year significantly exceeded the expected results.
“We received a higher than the planned yield of seed potatoes – 36.2 tons/hectare. According to the results of the season, the gross harvest of seed varieties exceeded 15,600 tons, so we needed additional capacity for their storage. We plan to continue to increase the volume of seed potatoes, respectively, there is a need to increase storage capacity. For Continental, seed potato growing is a strategic direction: we have permanent partners for whom we cultivate it and have already concluded new agreements on its implementation,” Orest Kravchuk, head of the Continental Farmers Group’s Potato cluster wrote on Continental’s Facebook page.
According to the social media post, in the new warehouse, the harvest is boxed. To maintain the quality of seed potatoes until the spring, the potato storage facility has installed a modern system of ventilation, temperature, and humidity control from the company Tolsma Technik LLC.
