Idaho Brings Potato-scented Perfume to Market

Recently, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) announced that it decided to create a potato-scented perfume after putting out a poll to the American people and finding out that no less than 90% of respondents found the scent of the French fries to be the most irresistible of all the scents.
“Whether you’re at a drive-through restaurant or dining in, it’s near impossible not to grab a fry and take a bite before you dive into your meal,” says IPC President and CEO, Jamey Highman, cited by Penn Live and NPR. “The smell is too good to resist. This perfume is a great gift for anyone who can’t refuse a French fry.”
Officially named “Frites by Idaho”, the “limited-edition fragrance” is made from distilled Idaho-grown potatoes combined with essential oils. Each bottle is 1.7 ounces and costs USD1.89, which, as the IPC points out, is about the price of a large order of French fries (in Idaho, anyway).
The commission cited a recent national survey by the firm Pollfish that found nearly 90% of Americans “find the smell of French fries irresistible.”
The Idaho commission has additional potato merchandise available for those addicted to spuds, including a French fry holder, Idaho potato playing cards, a miniature potato-hauling truck, and a 3-foot-tall “Spuddy Buddy.”
