BioConsortia Extends Nitrogen-fixing Microbial Products to Potatoes

The agricultural technology business BioConsortia, Inc., which creates and licenses cutting-edge microbial products to lessen agriculture’s ecological footprint while maintaining crop productivity, has revealed that it has created nitrogen-fixing products to increase the addressable market to new crop opportunities.
The nitrogen-replacement levels of BioConsortia’s seed and soil treatment solutions matched or beyond performance expectations in potatoes, among others, according to the findings of 2023 field trials. With this significant move, BioConsortia’s nitrogen-fixing products have a larger potential market and can have a greater influence on mitigating the environmental effects of fertilizer runoff and misuse outside of the cereal markets.
“The field results in potatoes and other vegetables continue to impress, and we’re excited to continue our work with vegetable seed developers, input providers, and growers around the globe, as we get one step closer to product launch,” Dr. Hong Zhu, Senior Vice President of Research and Development at BioConsortia, Inc., declared, cited by AgriBusiness Global.
Marcus Meadows-Smith, CEO at BioConsortia added that products like these allow growers to reduce their reliance on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers and better meet the challenges of balancing crop productivity with ecological safety.
BioConsortia will provide formulations for soil application or drip irrigation, in addition to seed treatment, in the fruit and vegetable sectors.
