Brazil Introduces New Potato Cultivar Developed For Processing

Brazil’s agricultural research agency Embrapa has announced the release of a new potato cultivar developed specifically for industrial processing applications.
The cultivar, officially coded BRS F21 and marketed under the name ‘Braschips’, was introduced by Embrapa Hortaliças on 18 December 2025. According to the agency, the variety is designed to deliver high dry matter content, low sugar levels, and improved industrial yield.
Embrapa said the cultivar features firm texture, light yellow flesh, and reduced incidence of physiological disorders, characteristics intended to support consistent processing performance.
The agency did not disclose commercial rollout volumes or adoption timelines.
