New Pink Potato Variety Launched in Italy

The Italian Quality Potato Consortium (IQPC) has announced a new potato variety name Rosé.
“Rosé is a new variety, comes from an all-Italian research and is a productive and commercial exclusive of the Consortium,” says Massimo Cristiani, president of the IQPC.
According to corriereortofrutticolo.it, like all Selenella products – the brand that sells the new variety – it is cultivated in compliance with integrated production, exclusively in Italy, from certified seeds and benefits of a tracked supply chain. It shares with the other products of the Selenella range the values of quality, safety, healthiness, environmental sustainability.
“The characteristic of this variety is its pink skin, but not red, the pulp is bright yellow and has an intense and decisive flavor. With fine and floury consistency, Selenella Rosé is appreciated for its delicate and intense taste, as well as being extremely versatile in the kitchen as it is ideal for gnocchi, mashed potatoes and fried food,” Cristiani explains.
In addition to being a source of selenium and other mineral salts, Selenella Rosé is rich in carotenoids including lutein, which perform both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions by counteracting free radicals, protecting eyesight and benefiting skin health.
