Kellanova is the New Global Snacking Business After the Kellogg Company Separation

The titles of the future businesses that Kellogg Company, which plans to split into two market-leading, publicly traded businesses with an emphasis on global snacking and North American cereal, will establish have been revealed.
When the North American cereal company is spun off, which Kellogg Company hopes to accomplish by the end of 2023, the titles will take effect. The “Kellogg’s” trademark will continue to appear on product labels for both businesses globally even though the company titles will change once the spin is complete.
Kellanova will be the brand name for the worldwide snacking, international cereal and noodles, plant-based foods, and North American cold meal industries. Kellanova will be a major player in the worldwide snacking market with a collection of renowned, iconic names, such as Pringles. Kellanova will also manage several well-known worldwide names of cereal.
“The name Kellanova signals the Company’s ambition for the future, building on the strong brand equity and legacy built over the past 117 years as Kellogg Company. The ‘Kell’ overtly recognizes our enduring connection to Kellogg Company, while ‘anova,’ which combines ‘a’ and the Latin word ‘nova,’ meaning ‘new,’ signals our ambition to continuously evolve as an innovative, next-generation, global snacking powerhouse. The Kellanova logo retains the iconic Kellogg Company ‘K’ to intentionally connect to our heritage and the strong foundation that got us to where we are today. The forward curved and extended ‘v’ embodies our forward momentum as we embark on this next chapter,” Steve Cahillane, Kellogg Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and future Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kellanova mentioned.
To come up with titles that would retain a strong link to its history while also catching the spirit and aspiration of each company’s portfolio and direction, Kellogg undertook a comprehensive process with the assistance of its employees.
Employees from all over the globe were asked to submit ideas for new company names as well as their visions for how the Kellogg Company should be represented by each company. Nearly 1,000 staff members provided qualitative comments and more than 4,000 moniker ideas. For the North American cereal company “WK Kellogg Co,” 20% of the workers who submitted names proposed a variation of “W.K. Kellogg.” The worldwide snacking company name “Kellanova” was influenced by employee name suggestions that contained the word “nova.”
“Unveiling the names for the global snacking and North American cereal businesses is an exciting milestone for both companies as we progress towards unleashing their full potential as standalone businesses. Upon spin completion, we believe both businesses will be better positioned to focus on their distinct strategic priorities, execute with increased agility and operational flexibility, realize improved outlooks for profitable growth, and shape distinctive corporate cultures, each rooted in Kellogg Company’s strong values,” Cahillane added.
Kellanova will trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol “K.” Ticker and exchange information for WK Kellogg Co will be announced in the coming months.
The Company will continue to provide updates on the separation of Kellogg into two independent companies as appropriate.
