Scholarships for the relatives of NPPGA members

Each year the Northern Plains Potato Growers Research & Education Foundation in the USA offers scholarships to the sons, daughters, grandsons, or granddaughters of the Potato Associates and NPPGA members only.
The foundation offers again this scholarship opportunity to four individuals who meet the following requirements:
- Parent or Grandparent must be either a grower-member or an Associate member of the Northern Plains Potato Grower Association.
- Applicant must be graduating from high school this spring or be attending college.
- Applicant must have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
There will be a total of three – USD 500 and one – USD 600 NPPGA scholarships awarded.
We are also pleased to offer the Potato Bowl Scholarship Ambassador Program with this application. The only additional requirement is that the selected scholarship applicants chosen to be the Potato Bowl Ambassadors and recipients of the Potato Bowl Scholarship MUST be available to participate in Potato Bowl events during the week of September 10 – 12, 2015.
Two individuals will be selected to serve as Potato Bowl Ambassadors and will each receive a USD 1,000 scholarship.
The one that met the criteria, have to download and complete the application to apply for the NPPGA and Potato Bowl scholarships.
A selection committee will be comprised to evaluate applications, interview candidates, and make the final selections. Applications must be received in our office no later than April 27, 2015.
In 2014, the winners of the Potato Bowl Scholarships were Drew Thompson and Ben Thompson.
Drew Thompson – Drew is the son of Sean and Colleen Thompson of Winona, Minnesota and he is attending the University of North Dakota to pursue a degree in finance or economics. He graduated from Winona Senior High with a 3.67 GPA, was a member of the Honor Society, a member of the school marching band and symphonic orchestra and excelled at baseball and basketball. Drew has also been active in other school activities, his church and community service.
Ben Thompson – Ben is the son of Ron and Jennifer Thompson of Park River, North Dakota and is be attending the University of North Dakota to pursue a Civil Engineering degree. Ben graduated from Park River High School with a 3.83 GPA. He participated in band and choir and has been the captain of both his high school hockey and baseball teams. He was a member of the National Honor Society, a North Dakota All State Academic Honorable Mention and the recipient of the United States Army National Scholar/Athlete Award. Ben has also been active in his church and charitable causes.
