Tomra Food Sensor-based Sorting Solutions for Potatoes at interpack 2023

Tomra Food will be exhibiting sensor-based sorting systems for potatoes at interpack 2023 (Hall 5 Booth A41).
Tomra 5B is the ideal option for wet and IQF goods, such as French fries or chips. Tomra 5B examines color and shape flaws with unrivaled accuracy, thanks to cutting-edge camera and laser technology, an on-belt inspection zone, and a 360° view.
“Thanks to its unique Sort to Spec functionality, Tomra 5B can automatically sort by size and length-to-width ratio, meeting specifications whilst maximizing the good-in-bad ratio and the recovery of saleable raw materials. Moreover, Sort to Spec allows the operators to set Tomra 5B according to the different specifications of each receipt in a very intuitive way, minimizing unnecessary adjustments,” according to a recent company release.
Smart Ejection is another of Tomra 5B’s novel features. Utilizing a novel de-clustering algorithm increases efficiency when making French fries. Good-in-bad performance has improved by 25% to 100% when fully tested at several customer sites; accept-stream quality is improved by making even more accurate decisions on defect types and clusters; and false detection is reduced, particularly of shorts in clusters, to reduce product waste and increase yield.
