Potato Stocks Are Tight in Europe

Stocks continue to tighten across Europe; physical processing costs have nudged up again in Germany, Belgium, and Holland, while prices in France are ‘holding firm’ at recent levels.
Due to the poor weather, there has been very little planting in the United Kingdom this week.
In Ireland, the potato markets remain unchanged this week with consumption and sales holding steady.
“Continued wet weather has resulted in no opportunity to plant early crops. Little if any earlies have been planted even along the coast. The weather conditions also mean that there is no opportunity to lift any unharvested crop. Stocks are increasing tight with upward price pressure,” the latest IFA report reveals.
