Syntegon Combines High-pack Style Flexibility With Intuitive Functionalities

Four new machines from Syntegon’s brand-new SVX series are available for the most popular vertical form, fill, and seal tasks in the food industry, two of them being available for the interpack 2023 visitors.
“The new VFFS machine series combines high pack style flexibility with intuitive functionalities, giving frozen food, bakery, confectionery, and snacks producers a leg up on the competition. Thanks to a wealth of easy upgrade options and access to Syntegon’s digital services, the SVX series helps customers keep up with market trends while running stable processes at all times,” Martin Boutkan, product manager at Syntegon, said.
Monitoring at the cutting edge thanks to a cloud-based solution Synexio enables production optimization, while Syntegon’s value-packed Service Agreements provide optimal uptime and performance, including maintenance, parts management, and customized training.
Revolutionary Cross-seal Drive for Ultimate Control and High Output
Syntegon’s interpack 2023 booth A31 in hall 6 features two SVX versions that will be available in 2023, as well as two other SVX models: visitors can experience the new technology firsthand during live demonstrations. The SVX Agile serves as the foundation for all single-tube applications.
The machine can be updated to handle corner sealed bags, three-sided seal bags, doy-style bags, and doy zip bags in addition to all basic tubular bag styles. The SVX Duplex, on the other hand, has two film lanes on the same 1,220 mm wide frame, resulting in better output rates for basic bag types like pillow, gusseted, and block bottom bags.
The cross-seal drive, which consists of four separately controlled servo motors, is the central innovation of all SVX models. The optimized approach, which is now pending patents, provides producers with complete control over vertical and horizontal movement, ensuring solid sealing. The drive contributes to the maximum outputs by combining four motors and having a low inertia.
“Customers are always looking for solutions that can produce reliably tight cross seals for added product safety. The SVX makes sure this is the case without compromising on speed. Depending on the bag parameters as well as the dosing of the product, the SVX Agile achieves outputs of up to 300 bags per minute with one film lane,” Boutkan explains.
When it comes to bag sizes, the SVX significantly expands the range over prior machines: The innovative series can make bags up to 400 millimeters wide, allowing users complete freedom in bag sizes and styles.
“If brand owners want to extend their portfolio to bigger bags, they don’t have to acquire another machine. The SVX is a future-proof solution that can handle the full bag range of different VFFS industries,” Boutkan added.
Novel Design: Front Cylinder for Unique User Experience
The SVX series also distinguishes out in terms of design and overall aesthetics: a front cylinder with curved sliding doors redefines machine manipulation and ease of access. When the doors open, they move to the back of the cylinder, where they do not obstruct operators during their everyday work. Furthermore, the easily accessible film lane behind the cylinder provides enough space for two printers to be installed.
Good accessibility is also a crucial feature of the control unit: the central cabinet, which uses the latest Beckhoff technology, has no mechanical components and is easily accessible from both sides. The lack of side doors allows operators to make safe, on-the-fly modifications to printers without having to stop the machine.
Vast Array of Service Agreements
“Customers continuously seek to maximize uptime and optimal performance of their packaging lines. Maintenance plays an important part in this regard, which is why we have designed the new SVX series as an easy-to-operate, reliable and robust system,” Boutkan explains.
In this context, Syntegon’s extensive portfolio of Service Agreements assists food producers in ensuring effective start-up and continuous production. Syntegon offers Service Agreement packages that include proven Syntegon services for all maintenance needs at a fixed fee to expand its connection with SVX customers.
Seven dedicated service levels enable Syntegon customers to eliminate unplanned downtime by decreasing production risks, gaining control over service costs, and simplifying complicated operations.
Customers’ liability lowers with each level, while the area of covered services expands – from basic, including inspection and remote servicing, to assured machine production performance. Customers can have peace of mind regarding the reliability of their equipment starting at Level 4, thanks to preventive maintenance performed by Syntegon experts. Aside from preventative maintenance and operator training, this level of service includes all spare parts and Synexio at a fixed rate.
Converting Data Into Action
Aside from comprehensive maintenance support, peace of mind necessitates complete transparency on machine components and production, as this allows for real-time tracking of progress or bottlenecks. The SVX series, in conjunction with Syntegon’s cloud-based monitoring technology Synexio, assists manufacturers with this challenging process. To that end, the VFFS machine includes powerful in-built sensors as well as a self-diagnosis system.
Synexio, on the other hand, acts as a magnifying glass for the data created by this technology: the tool assists manufacturers in the collecting, evaluation, and visualization of machine and production data whenever and wherever it is required. This data eventually allows them to evaluate, interpret, and predict important manufacturing processes.
This works in several ways: Syntegon will offer Synexio in three successive packages. The basic “Monitor” package visualizes numerous KPIs such as equipment status or rejects to assist businesses in taking data-driven action – for optimal production and capacity management. Customers interested in Synexio can test the “Monitor” package during a trial period to become completely acquainted with the solution and make an informed purchasing decision.
“After our customers have already successfully used the basic package, they are now ready to upgrade to the next level,” says Elisa Hein, Product Manager of Expert Services at Syntegon.
At this year’s interpack 2023, Syntegon will be presenting the second Synexio package, “Uptime”.
“With this, we increase the level of detail: in addition to machine availability, customers can now identify the concrete potential for improvement, for example, by visualizing the most frequently occurring reasons for stops,” Hein explained.
SVX Agile and SVX Duplex on Show
Visitors to Syntegon’s exhibit at interpack 2023 can see the SVX Agile in action as a stand-alone machine solution for making pillow bags. It is suitable for a wide range of sectors, including frozen food, nuts, confectionery, and chocolates, as well as bakery snacks and cookies.
The SVX Duplex will be shown as part of a one-stop-shop confectionery solution for jellies – from kitchen, processing, and depositing equipment to primary packaging and cartoning. The jellies are dosed and fed in by a versatile 36-head weigher to demonstrate high outputs. At the booth, the SVX Duplex is combined with Syntegon’s RPP pick-and-place robot, which places the bags in carton trays preformed by the Kliklok ACE carton erector.
