Downs, a pioneer in potato reception, automated sorting, and storage, unveils the CropVision Plus, a high-throughput optical sorter for unwashed potatoes, in response to the success of the CropVision, introduced in 2020.
With its state-of-the-art technological advancements, this innovative equipment, revealed at the Interpom’24 trade conference, promises to transform optical sorting and satisfy potato producers’ increasing expectations for accuracy and efficiency.
“On the occasion of the InterPom’24 trade show, Downs is launching the CropVision Plus, an optical sorter that is even more powerful, more accurate, and more connected! It is now possible to sort unwashed potatoes and onions at high throughput. […],” the company announced on LinkedIn recently.
The first significant enhancement of CropVision Plus is its eight times more potent processors, which enable faster and more efficient data processing and provide unparalleled sorting performance.
The other one is the advanced lighting technology for enhanced defect detection, ensuring optimal sorting even for the most challenging potato varieties.
“A newly designed user interface for improved ergonomics, simplifying operation and configuration for users of all levels,” the company engineers added.
Last, but not least, the market-first connectivity features enabling real-time monitoring, remote updates, and simplified data management for maintenance.

This upgrade improves sorting efficiency for unwashed potatoes and integrates specific AI-driven algorithms to adapt to diverse market requirements.
