Synergy Introduces ‘Heat and Fire’ Flavors

Classics like ‘hot chili,’ culinary-inspired profiles like ‘Bulgogi BBQ,’ and flavor-enhancing choices like ‘flame grilled’ and ‘coal embered grill’ are among the natural flavors and culinary pastes that Synergy Flavors is presenting.
The variety of goods available allows end product formulators to customize the final taste delivery and heat level in their products, ranging from mild, sweet, and smokey characteristics to hot and spicy.
A new smoke-like flavor (designated as a ‘natural flavoring’ or ‘flavoring’) in Synergy’s heat and fire line allows producers to replicate the taste and scent of smoke without utilizing any of the eight smoke-based flavorings that are being phased out before being outright banned in the EU.
“In a recent flavor survey by Innova, 22% of consumers globally reported looking for ‘intense and bold flavors’ whilst 82% of consumers in Europe would be interested in ready meals with ‘heat’ or ‘spicy’ flavors. The rise of terms like ‘swicy’ (sweet and spicy) and ‘swalcy’ (sweet and salty with a spicy kick) capture the essence of the contemporary palate. A prime example of this is the advent of ‘hot honey’ a fusion of sweet, spicy, and savory that has been capturing the attention of food enthusiasts. Our range of heat and fire flavors offers manufacturers a natural and high-impact way of adding flavor intensity to their products. Whether they are looking to appeal to the social media set intent on finding more fire, or those seeking comfort from familiar and indulgent smoky/grilled flavors, or foodies drawn to chef-inspired foods, we can help,” Natalie Sheil, European Category Development Manager, Synergy Flavors, commented.
The full range includes sweet habanero, Bulgogi, chipotle, spiced chili, hot chili, coal embered grill, sweet sizzling grill, smoke type, and flame-grilled flavors; and spicy smoky tomato, sweet chili, and peri peri culinary pastes.
Seeking Novel Experiences in Snacks Trend
During 2024-2030 period, the flavored potato chips segment is expected witness the highest CAGR in the U.S. market. Consumers’ evolving taste preferences, which seek variety and novel experiences in their snacks, drive the demand for flavored potato chips.
In February, 2024, Lay’s announced the debut of its latest flavor innovation: Lay’s Sweet & Spicy Honey flavored chips. America’s favorite potato chip brand celebrated what happens when sweet and spicy flavors come together in perfect harmony – a combo coined as Swicy.
