Marais Group to Use Wooden Packaging for Potatoes

French vegetable producer and packaging company, Marais Group, recently announced that it will be using an innovative, eco-friendly, packaging solution for the next Noirmoutier potato harvest at the end of February. The new wooden and cardboard packaging will be offered as trays going from 125g for young shoots, up to 1 kg.
According to freshplaza.com, a Marais Group spokesperson said: “There is a desire on our part to reduce the use of plastic. For this new harvest, we will introduce wooden and cardboard packaging. It is an authentic packaging, in keeping with the values of the Noirmoutier potato, a product with a long tradition.”
The Marais Group is a family business which was founded in 1907 and sells in France and Europe. Its main clients are supermarkets, purchasing and processing centers. Despite the diversity of its activities, the company is above all a producer. It is certified Global Gap, LEAF and AB.
